Latest Show: Episode #008: Butterwheat

It’s a show about nothing. In the most tangential episode of Tapezilla yet, the guys briefly discuss Bionic Commando: Rearmed, Fable 2 Pub Games, Braid and Fallout, while also touching on baseball, the Jonas Brothers and the death of Sugar Ray Robinson.

The First Broken Controller

You heard about it on a previous episode of Tapezilla, now witness the imagery. This is a shot taken minutes after the controller was demolished during an unfortunate game of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3. RIP Dual Shock 2, and damn you Tony Hawk. Damn you.

Tapezilla Promotional Materials

This may sound surprising, but we’ve actually received a few e-mails asking if we have any banners that listeners can use to promote Tapezilla — either on myspace/facebook pages or in sigs on forums that allow that kind of nonsense. Well ask no longer. I give you both an ad banner-sized well… banner, and the rectangular logo used on our more recent Youtube calls. Feel free to steal them and put them everywhere.

Madden ‘09 Collector’s Edition PS3 for $44.98 @ Target

For anyone who couldn’t quite pull the trigger on Madden ‘09 CE at its $90 price point (and goodness why would you), you can now get the whole damn package for $45. To put it another way, until they sell out, you can get the CE for $15 less than the regular edition. And hey, if you really want to be a cheap bastard, flip the included copy Head Coach ‘09 on ebay for $35 and pay a grand total of $10 for this year’s Madden. Not too shabby.

Scene It? 360 for $24.99 (or free!)

While previously one of the better stores for finding clearances/markdowns, Sears has been in the shitter ever since the end of 2007. However, if you’re all about watching clips from bad movies and then competing with friends to see who can remember the color of the featured actor’s socks, you may want to pay them a visit. Or, if you don’t have $24.99, but DO have lots of time on your hands, head on over to http://club.live.com where Scene It? can be yours for a mere 5800 points. That’s only like 6 days of Word Slugger!

Top 10 Worst Gaming Lists from Digg’s Front Page

10 Worst: Gaming Lists from Digg\'s Front Page

Ah, the venerable Top 10 (or Top 5, 7, 11, or however many the list-maker could find/thought distinguished their list from the other “Top Whatever” shill) list. It’s been said that aside from tits, Ron Paul, and Digg itself, the Top Whatever list is probably the topic best suited to make Digg’s front page. I’m sure there’s some deep-seated psychological reason for humanity’s affinity for both the making of their own lists and curiosity toward lists made by others, but that’s not what we’re here to discuss. Here’s the very worst of the Top Whatever lists that made it to the front page of everyone’s favorite Internet echo chamber despite sucking so badly, presented in ascending order (that means “going up”) by the number of diggs received to maximize the guilt you should feel if you dugg any of this garbage.

Really, Kotaku?

fixed

I check Joystiq and Kotaku once or twice during the day, and I’m not sure why I continually subject myself to the latter. It seems like every time I visit the site, there’s at least one story that actively pisses me off. This time around it was the story coyly titled “SEGA’s President Casually Mentions Resident Evil 5’s Wii Release”. Holy crap! The President of SEGA himself drops a bomb like that in an EXCLUSIVE interview with Kotaku at E3?! The video proudly embedded on the main Kotaku page certainly has Mr. Jeffery confirming the headline, and the teaser paragraph whets one’s appetite, promising to confer with other industry luminaries. That big pink “RUMOR” tag looks pretty juicy… I’d better click through to see what happens.

Who's Tapezilla?

  • Bob
    Bob

Currently a freelancer for 1up.com, Bob's spent the better part of the last 15 years writing about games and the gaming industry. Starting with his top tier spot on the Gaming Age roster back in the late 90s, and moving on to pen countless features and guides for various Ziff publications, Bob's now taken his expertise over to the world of "radio" by hosting the Tapezilla 'cast.

  • Drac

Former Gaming Age editor and Expert Gamer contributor, Zach (better known as "Drac") has been knee-deep in gaming since the age of 7. Now in his mid-20s, Drac lends his knowledge of the industry and injects a large dose of funny into the Tapezilla 'cast.

  • Pete

Another former gaming industry insider, Pete (aka Matt White) has a resume that includes both IGN and UGO, as well as the now famous Gun Baby webcomic. Pete's cynicism and opinionated rants keep Tapezilla from being just another lovefest podcast.

  • Stevie B

A self-proclaimed world champion Virtua Fighter player and Team Fortress 2 king, Stevie B is now a lumberjack with the power of Zeus on his side.
