huh i thought yall were just misspelling ’ski’ for some reason. wtf is ska? like grunge music or something?
so “ska” you’re not familiar with, but playing guitar in a “ski” band makes all sorts of sense to you? I don’t know about this guy!
regardless of what RJ says, there was a time in the 90s (for m it was 1996 1997 or so) when ska was pretty big. if it wasn’t, I never woulda been in a ska band. that’s what people I knew were talking about and listening to.
korn: ska, at least how we played it, was sorta punk rock with a brass section. you’ve probably heard it here and there before. also a lot of guitar muting that emphasized the upstroke.
damn it sounds interesting. what were some of the major ska bands? i honestly dont remember hearing about this music though i was only about 9 at the time…
some No Doubt (particularly the earlier stuff, I think) has a high level of ska influence.

I’m not sure if that’s the exact video Peter referenced, but that’s the one I found. I couldn’t bring myself to watch it… I tried, and got a few seconds into it, but had to stop before the break.
It’s not that bad at all… It’s nothing at all! I’m sure he won’t be arm wrestling anymore, though.
