Burnout Paradise, Ninja Gaiden, Gears of War 2, Dead Space, Fallout3…(I would put MLB 08 there too).
And a puzzle game better than Fallout3? I would understand if that was in Deuce’s wacky list.
@Israel something inherently subjective can’t be more “accurate”… Peter’s list more closely matches “popular” (vocal online) opinion, I’ll give you that.
Folks should chime in with their 2008 GotY top 5, I’d be really interested to see what our listeners/readers liked. The only rule is that the games had to have been RELEASED in 2008.

Pretty difficult episode to listen to. More annoying than funny or enjoyable. However,

I think there should be a seperate category for “dumb baby games”, that way we wouldn’t have to deal with people putting leyton above real games like FO3.

The guessing game bit was kind of funny, but yeah… this one wasn’t our best work. I’d like to think we’re entitled to the odd off show here and there. In fact, I’m having a hard time thinking of the last time we put out something I wasn’t keen on.

Yeah I’m with @kornkrlz, in my opinion the Tapezilla really hits its stride when you arent really talking about games, if at all.
I listen just because I like it, I couldn’t care less if it was about games or not — I don’t even play games.
I’m with Ned, It doesn’t matter if you’re on topic about games or off topic entirely about STB being scared of fish sandwiches, the podcast just clicks with the right amount of funny, and is a joy to listen to every time its released.

L5D demo is pretty fun. i love getting the machette and just wailin’ on some zombies
L5D is basically a big addon pack for L4D, and with much less likeable main characters. lewis and zoey were particular crowd favorites around here.
that said, a big addon pack for a game that’s as fun as L4D is worth the price of admission, if you ask me. I also noticed there seems to be a bit more detail and variety when it comes to zombie deaths, which, if true, is very welcome.
yeah the gore effects are pretty nice. the combat shotgun turns the zombies into swiss cheese.
The demo of l5d is pretty boring after a while, which didn’t happen with the l4d demo, but i’m putting it’s boringness down to the fact that the overall mechanics of the game are the same. The new weapons are good, particularly like the burst fire rifle and the G3 sniper. Bile bombs are a master stroke, I much prefer them to the pipe bomb. And visually it’s a drastic improvement, the effects after being defibbed are particularly nice. All in all a great game that is definitely worth the price, like pete said.
it ain’t boring. I like shooting zombies. never gets old. I played the demo several times.
I like braining zombies as much as the next man, but it just wears me down, I mean i know what to expect from the game, The mechanics are more polished but not different, so I suppose after a year of playing left 4 dead I don’t need two level tasters, I need the whole deal to satiate my appetite for zombie murdering. On an unrelated note, Anyone going to a midnight launch of MW2 tonight? I’ve got 3 hours left before I go to join the queuing masses.
If by “midnight launch event” you mean “pick it up when and if it goes on a decent sale on Steam”, then maybe.

@ STB: I agree, not every episode can be a homerun. But some general things of “success” are: funny anecdotes (Pete and his cell phone job or Tapezilla at E3), Wetty’s, anything with Jefferson back on the show, prank calls.
Listening to who has the “real” top 5? C’mon Pete, who gives a shit.
And to be honest, Leyton does have pretty amazing sales, so RJ and Drac aren’t the only ones loving the game.
MW2 is the shit online on 360 atm, but I can see it wearing thin for noobies who come in later in the game.
I’ve played like 30 hours of dragon age, and I’ve only killed one dragon so far, and it was a baby, so it wasn’t even that big. talk about a misleading title.
